Preliminary Task
Preliminary Task
Front Cover:
Contents Page:
I used Photoshop in order to create both my front cover and contents page, and feel that it could have held more content on the front cover. However the preliminary task was completed when I was pushed for time, so I feel that if i had more time I would have been able to do a much better job in both cases.
Preliminary Task - Photographs
Preliminary Task Photographs
These are some of the images that I have taken for my preliminary task. I chose to use images which displays the school attributes, as well as being relevant to my magazine content.

Where did alternative music originate from?
Where did alternative music originate from?
Emerged from the independent music underground of the 1980s and became widely popular by the 1990s. Often contains transgressive lyrics and generally a nonchalant, defiant attitude. Punk Rock in the late 1970s laid the groundwork for alternative music. With the breakthrough of Nirvana and the popularity of the grunge and Britpop movements of the 1990s, alternative rock entered the musical mainstream and many alternative bands became commercially successful.
Research
Research into alternative music
I downloaded different songs by alternative artists so that I could gain a better understanding of what alternative music is like, and how I could express this through my magazine.
Using the left third
Using the left third
Using the left third on the front cover enables me to display the content of the magazine effectively, so that if my magazine were to be stacked on the shelf, readers can see what is in the magazine.
Organising work
Organising Work

Proof Reading
Before entering text into my magazine I typed it up on Microsoft Word and ran a spelling and grammar check to make sure no errors could be found in the textual parts of my magazine.

Choosing images
Choosing Images
I needed different instruments for my magazine's contents page and used a microphone as one of them, I took pictures from different angles and then edited out the background on the image I decided to use.

Before: After:
Pictures of myself using photoshop and blogging.
By using blogger I've found different ways to present ideas and my progress. Photoshop has helped me to understand the editing processes that going into media, especially the detail that is involved when editing pictures.
Using fireworks has allowed me to create images from nothing in order to create unique looks within my magazine. For example in the image below I am creating my magazine's logo by layering and blurring colours to create a more realistic look that suits my magazine's genre.
